Akilah is a graduate of Rochester Institute of Technology with a Master’s Degree in Project Management and a Bachelor’s Degree in Advertising & Public Relations. In college, she started her career as a public relations intern at Corporate Paychex, Rochester NY. In 2008, she co-founded Capstone HEROES, an organization which sought help ease transitional issues for veterans and their families as they settled back into civilian life. Through Capstone HEROES she helped to build Veteran’s Academies at Institutions in Western New York.

In 2010, she partnered with an organization to produce the What Women Want Weekend, an ultimate getaway retreat for women which raised awareness and funds for the Breast Cancer Coalition of Rochester (NY). Akilah then moved back to Washington, DC and published Nura
Magazine in 2014 to promote literacy, education, and wellness for young women. Nura Magazine is a nationally distributed online and print publication.

As a mother, Akilah is an advocate for healthy family relationships, proactive parenting and youth development. In 2018, she launched a series of events entitled SHE2 with a mission to educate and empower women against Domestic Violence. In April 2019, Akilah Clark and herĀ 
co-founders launched Kids Fashion Week DMV to nurture, cultivate and inspire creative professionals under the age of 18. Kids Fashion Week DMV is now expanding past the DC region to include a chapter on the West Coast. Akilah has overseen a number of small businesses but finds her true passion for women empowerment and literacy. Akilah currently serves on the executive board of The 100 Fathers Inc, she is a board member for the 101
Mothers organization, and a proud member of Black Women for Positive Change.
